Primus is proud to have a leadership and management team with over 150 years of combined experience in the healthcare industry in both large and small companies. The management team is dedicated to bringing the safe and effective prescription metabolic products to patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers throughout North America.

 
Charles A. (Chuck) Lieppe, Chairman
Mr. Lieppe is a seasoned chief executive who has led multi-billion-dollar marketing-driven businesses including Nabisco International, Berol Corporation, DBT Online, and WestPoint Pepperell. Earlier, Mr. Lieppe spent 21 years with Procter & Gamble and, as head of the health care divisions, established P&G's prescription drug business through internal development and acquisition. Mr. Lieppe chairs or sits on the Boards of several companies. Mr. Lieppe graduated from Columbia University with an MBA in Marketing and Finance and an AB in English.
James D. (J.D.) Weir, President & CEO
Prior to founding Primus, Mr. Weir led various prescription and OTC drug and medical device businesses for Procter & Gamble and later The Kendall Company's former home healthcare subsidiary, Kendall-Futuro. Mr. Weir was instrumental in leading the sale of Kendall-Futuro to Beiersdorf AG. He also led the start-up commercialization of a large, successful e-commerce company. Mr. Weir has extensive experience in entrepreneurial management, marketing, sales, and product development. He graduated from Harvard Business School with an MBA and from Augustana College with a BS in Business and Accounting.
Derek Hall, Director
Mr. Hall has extensive experience in the pharmaceuticals and natural products industries. Mr. Hall is a Founder and CEO of Qivana, a developer and marketer of unique and patented consumer products, and the former CEO of Unigen Pharmaceuticals and Univera Life Sciences, all multinational natural products healthcare companies. Mr. Hall also served for ten years as the Senior Vice President of Sales for McKesson Corp., the largest pharmaceutical distributor in the United States, where he spent a 26 year career. After McKesson, he became the CEO of four successful healthcare companies: Nature's Way, Integrative Therapeutics, Enzymatic Therapy, and Botanicals International. He has participated in numerous professional activities including the Board of Trustees of the National College of Naturopathic Medicine and Bastyr University, and on committees of the Health Care Distribution Management Association and the National Association of Chain Drug Stores.
John M. Siebert, PhD, Director
Dr. Siebert has been a Director since August, 2004. He recently retired as Chairman and CEO of Cydex Pharmaceuticals, a specialty pharmaceutical company developing acute care hospital products. He is now developing a start-up veterinary pharmaceutical company, Compan Pharma, LLC, a specialty pharmaceutical company developing, marketing and selling innovative new dosing solutions for pet surgery and after-care. Prior to Cydex, Dr. Siebert was the CEO of CIMA Labs, a drug delivery and specialty pharmaceutical company which he managed from its early development through a secondary offering and ultimately a strategic sale to Cephalon. Prior to CIMA, he led R&D, clinical/medical, and/or quality assurance and regulatory functions for a division of Merck, Bayer (U.S.), Dey Laboratories, Squibb, and G.D. Searle. Dr. Siebert began his career with Procter & Gamble after completing his doctorate. Several NDAs, ANDAs, INDs, Rx-to-OTC switches, patents, and technical publications are to his credit. Dr. Siebert holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from University of Missouri, a MS in Organic Chemistry from Wichita State University, and a BS in Chemistry from Illinois Benedictine College.
Richard J. (Rich) Whitley, MD, Director
Dr. Whitley is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). At UAB, he is also the Director of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Vice-Chair of the Department of Pediatrics. He manages a large clinical trials program funded by the NIH. He is an advisor to the NIH and FDA and past President of the International Society of Antiviral Research. Dr. Whitley has served on the boards of directors or scientific advisory boards of other successful pharmaceutical companies including Gilead and Aviron (developed Flumist which is marketed by Wyeth). He is widely published. Dr. Whitley graduated from George Washington University School of Medicine with an MD and from Duke University with a BS in Chemistry.
Michael J. (Mike) Martin, CFO, Treasurer & Secretary
Mr. Martin is a seasoned financial executive and a CPA. Prior to co-founding Primus, Mr. Martin was the President of a Citibank subsidiary and later the CFO of a major division of PricewaterhouseCoopers. He also was the CFO of a successful e-commerce start-up company having broad cross-functional and investor responsibilities. Mr. Martin began his career with one of the major international CPA firms. Mr. Martin received his MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Business from the University of California at Berkeley where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude
